Anyone watching “Doctor Doom” Lester Holt and his Greek chorus of disaster/fear mongers on NBC’s Nightly anti-Trump news would think that the coronavirus is the bubonic plague. They parade exhausted emergency workers and glib, well-groomed middle-aged doctors with the message “Stay inside! We’re doomed if we even go outside, let alone open up our country now.”
And what do Lester and his crew report to appear fair and balanced? They show normal people who don’t live in New York marching on state capitols demanding the opportunity to earn a living again. Oh, and of course all those people are right-wing, racist Trump-supporting zombies. Look at all those American flags!
Meanwhile as the virus affects the most vulnerable among us—the elderly, people with already existing medical problems—the overwhelming majority of normal, healthy people only get a fever and a cough, or may not even be aware they caught the virus.
When the pandemic passes and the “scientific model” proves to be massively overblown and as inaccurate as the 2016 election polls, the “experts” backed up by the likes of Nancy Pelosi and demagogues like Governor Andrew Cuomo will take the credit. See? We told you to stay inside, and it worked.
You can expect that when the emergency passes, the next narrative that the media will try to shove down our throats is that President Trump destroyed the economy. As soon as he learned the death rate was 0.1% he failed to act quickly enough to reopen the economy.

Democrats also have another problem, and their strategists are hoping that they can do something—anything—to avoid the electoral blowback before reasonable, normal people will recognize what is happening.
Their biggest problem is that when the final coronavirus numbers reveal it to be no more than a typical flu season outbreak, people will stop paying attention to Lester and his doom crew and get back to living their lives. By then, the infrastructure will be in place and the glut of oil we’ve built up will spur the economy into a recovery. Some experts predict jobs and the economy will skyrocket past their previous highs.
That skyrocketing will be a return to President Trump’s booming economy, and Joe Biden won’t be able to attribute that resurgence to Barack Obama. Americans will remember the strong leadership of President Trump and his message of optimism and the reasonable measures of a team led by Vice President Pence.
The Trump-Pence team is a combination of iron and Teflon. They have relegated Democrats to a position of weak observers and ridiculous ankle-biting critics. Democrats blew their final chance to show how they could work across the aisle to help their country. Instead they spread ridiculous charges that President Trump has blood on his hands (Nancy Pelosi) and the President is unsuited to lead our country through this crisis (Joe Biden).
The iron stubbornness of President Trump is his determination to stay on message amid the cacophony of whiny critics and their complicit media. The Teflon of Vice President Pence is just the right, “good-cop” contrast after President Trump is finished flailing the skin off stupid reporters.
So, the Democrats wished for a ruined economy. They figured it was their last, best hope to defeat President Trump, because not even a two-year investigation and an impeachment worked.
However, the economy is actually not ruined. It is a sleeping giant that will rise and relegate Democrats to another four years of wandering in the desert of their broken dreams.
