Trump Announces He’ll Shut Down All Immigration to America

The United States has gone from near-full employment to 22.5 million unemployed Americans in just three weeks. The number of jobless folks will be even higher by the time you read this. A new wave of firings from small businesses is just getting started, due to the federal Paycheck Protection Program running out of money. There’s never been a better time for America First patriots to make the case for a full moratorium on all forms of immigration.

Which is exactly what President Trump did yesterday. He tweeted that he will sign an executive order temporarily suspend all immigration into this country.

Congratulations America, we finally have a president who is willing to put us first!

The coronavirus pandemic from China has made the issue crystal clear to most people. There’s not ambiguity and nearly everyone gets it all of a sudden: The mass migration of people from one place to another is dangerous.

It is dangerous to your livelihood and it is dangerous to your health, and the health of your loved ones. Everyone suddenly understands this point.

A Pew Research poll just found that 80% of Americans now view mass migration as a threat to our country. This is striking compared to pre-coronavirus polling. Before that, it was rare to see a poll in which a full 50% of Americans thought immigration was dangerous. This is a hilarious vindication of Donald Trump, Jr.’s Skittles joke back when President Trump was trying to stop mass migration from terror-sponsoring countries. Remember that?

Don, Jr. tweeted that if he offered you a handful of Skittles and only a few of them were poisoned, would you take some? The Open Borders lobby howled that Don, Jr. was a racist xenophobic Islamophobic racist hate-monger Nazi. But Don, Jr. was right. Now that we have a virus that supposedly has a two-week incubation period before people start showing symptoms, it’s a danger to let anyone in. That’s not racism. We just don’t know who is sick.

Perhaps it was this Ipsos poll that spurred President Trump to finally shut off the immigration spitgot. Ipsos found that 79% of Americans want a full moratorium on all immigration due to the coronavirus.

Some of those polled no doubt feel that the pause will keep us safer from the virus (which it will), but many understand that immigrants compete with Americans for jobs. And at a time when 22.5 million Americans are out of work, we need to take care of them first.

Hopefully President Trump won’t allow a single immigrant to set foot on US soil again until we get back to pre-coronavirus levels of employment. Even people who disagreed with me on that point just three weeks ago are suddenly calling for an immigration shutdown. It’s one thing to signal your virtue when you don’t know anyone whose job is threatened by immigration. But when you have a niece or nephew who is suddenly out of work, it’s highly illuminating, isn’t it?

It’s too bad that Trump didn’t take this action earlier. The State Department resettled 1,000 refugees from Afghanistan last week. Afghanistan, of course, has abysmal testing abilities for coronavirus, but we do know that it has about a thousand confirmed cases and 30 deaths so far. Why were these refugees so special that we needed to bring them here all of a sudden, when your cousin from England is not allowed to fly into the US?

While the White House has been light on details since the announcement, it’s likely that the executive order will have an exemption for temporary guest workers, including farm workers.

Before the pandemic the Department of Agriculture and the State Department were trying to convince the Trump White House to throw off the caps of the H-2A foreign worker visa program. That’s the farm worker visa program, for those keeping track.

The program currently allows 250,000 foreign workers into the country to work in agriculture jobs. The Ag and State Departments want that 250,000 figure to be changed to “unlimited.” The excuse from the Ag and State Departments is that agriculture is facing unprecedented challenges due to the Chinese coronavirus, and we need these cheap foreigners to pick our vegetables.

It’s a ridiculous argument. With 22.5 million Americans out of work, we are not suffering a worker shortage. If agribusinesses truly can’t afford to pay a living wage to Americans right now, the taxpayers would gladly subsidize those jobs to get American workers back in the game. That’s what we’re already forced to do for the H-2A visa holders anyway! The foreign workers undercut the wages of Americans and the taxpayers then chip in food stamps, housing vouchers and other benefits for them.

None of FDR’s government programs to pull America out of the Great Depression worked. It was only after the US imposed a full moratorium on all immigration that Americans’ lives improved. Wages skyrocketed after World War II, the baby boom took place and we even put a man on the moon (maybe). While we thankfully have Trump in office to temporarily stop immigration while this virus rages, we won’t fully recover from this pandemic until we win the argument with the globalists.
