RT America Shut Down Amid Backlash to Kremlin Funded Media

The Russia – Ukraine conflict is heating up across the globe as media outlets associated with Russia in anyway are being axed in America.

According to a report from CNN, Russia Today America (RT America) are suspending all productions and the majority of its staff have been fired “as a result of unforeseen business interruption events.”

Closures of offices in Miami, Los Angeles, New York and Washington DC will be permanent, according to T&R Productions – one of the companies that produces the network.

An employee who worked for RT America, said that “A lot of people were shocked. A lot of people were crying,” after they had been informed that they no longer had their jobs.

This was the result, after the decision was made that both DirecTV and Roku would be dropping the network after Russia moved forces into Ukraine.

Google and Apple followed suit, also banning Sputnik News from app stores.

Social Media have limited sharing for Russians and Russian state media has taken a hit after their ad revenue was also limited.

It’s not only big tech who have dropped RT. American RT hosts are moving on without the network, even before the announcement had been made that RTs plug had been pulled, they were announcing their departures.

Dennis Miller, who hosted Dennis Miller + One, had been on the network since 2020 and a source told NBC News that Miller has “no plans on going back.”

Many of RT America’s shows are produced by Ora TV, Miller’s show being one of them. Ora TV registered as a foreign agent in the United States in 2017.

Ora Media CEO John Dickey told Deadline on Tuesday, “Given the invasion of Ukraine and the tragic humanitarian crisis, Ora Media has paused production of content we license to T&R Productions. Future business decisions will be made based on the evolving situation.”

One RT host who wanted to remain anonymous, told CNN that having to witness everyone losing their jobs, was difficult.

“I have never felt more heartbroken as they have nothing to do with this conflict and seriously were just trying to make a decent living to provide for their families.” she said.

This is just one of many ways that the Russians have been cut off since Putin crossed the Ukraine border after tensions between Russia, Ukraine and NATO came to a head.

Russia has been cut off from international banking services, Russian oligarchs have had their super yachts seized, along with other assets and Congress wants a complete ban on Russian oil, so much so in fact, Democrats are willing to buy oil from Iran – a terrorist nation.

White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki said that these measures would “put the squeeze” on Putin and those in his closest inner circle.

Meanwhile, China is buying Russian oil and wheat as they refuse to condemn Russia moving into Ukraine, and Saudi Arabia is also working with the Russians after America invested in billions into Iran’s nuclear program.
