Democrats in Congress and the White House are preparing a celebration this week on the passage of a $1.9 trillion spending bill that they’ve dubbed “COVID stimulus.” I won’t beat a dead horse on this issue, because you probably already know that only 9% of the bill has anything to do with COVID. The rest is pork.
The reason why Democrats are eager to pass this bill is because they view it as a complete and total payoff of any obligation to pretend to care about the American people. Who came up with the idea for those stimulus checks for Americans anyway? Oh. Ha! Right…
COVID stimulus checks for Americans were such a radical idea in Washington, DC that no one wanted to ever give them out in the first place. That’s not how Washington operates. If President Donald Trump had never existed, Congress would have simply let the Americans who were crushed by the pandemic suffer as they sent out massive relief packages to banks, Walmart and Amazon. Congress could care less about you and your family, and that goes double for the people running the Biden White House.
Remember the last time the economy tanked, and Congress passed those trillion-dollar “stimulus” bills? All of the money went to the big banks on Wall Street that caused the real estate meltdown of 2008-2009. (And to Obama’s green energy boondoggle buddies.) Americans who found themselves underwater in their mortgages were hung out to dry, as the banks holding those mortgages got fat off more American taxpayer dollars. The result was the formation of Occupy Wall Street on the left and the Tea Party on the right.
Thanks to a string of terrible court cases that is too long to bother mentioning, a lot of people – even some really smart people – now have upside-down thinking when it comes to governments and liability. The mentality is: “You can’t hold government liable when it hurts normal people. That’s not how our system works.”
Donald Trump had an amazing instinct, however, to recognize that just because the courts have made something “legal” does not make it ethical, moral or right. If the people are harmed by reckless and insane government-mandated economic shutdowns over a virus (something that’s never happened before in human history), then why shouldn’t government be liable to the people for that?
Suppose you went out tomorrow and one of your neighbors has plastered venomous flyers all over town with your name, face and home address on them. The flyers contain vicious, slanderous lies about you, claiming you commit horrible crimes against children. Suddenly your business is destroyed because of these lies. Is the neighbor who lied about you liable for damages that he’s done to you? Most mentally healthy people can look at a situation like that and say, “Absolutely. The lying neighbor is liable.”
Yet no one in Washington, DC is capable of seeing the inverse when it comes to the “If you broke it, you pay for it” principle. Only Donald Trump was able to look at the lockdowns and see the situation from the perspective of everyday people who were severely harmed by government actions.
Here’s the perfect case study: Florida. The state has been fully open since last June. How do Florida’s numbers compare to California, New York, Michigan and other states that are still severely locked down? If Florida’s case and fatality numbers are the same or better, then the entire COVID narrative was a deliberate lie. (Spoiler: Florida’s numbers are better.)
State governments lied and they therefore did deliberate harm to people. Donald Trump was the only person who saw this and said, “Government should pay the people back for what government did to them.”
No one else in Washington, DC ever would have thought of stimulus checks for the people. Don’t kid yourself. This next stimulus check was not Joe Biden’s idea, or Chuck Schumer’s, or Nancy Pelosi’s. It was Trump’s idea and Trump’s policy that Congress is about to enact. They’ll trot Joe Biden out for a quick 9-minute speech (no questions afterwards, reporters!) and he’ll take credit for it. But these are Trump’s stimulus checks for the people.
Enjoy those $1,400 checks when they hit your bank accounts, Americans. Because once Congress gets this help out of the way, they won’t be doing anything else for the American people for the next four years. Just look at where the rest of the “stimulus” bill’s money is going, and you can see exactly where their priorities are – and it ain’t you. If we want government to put the American people first again, you know what we have to do in 2024 – and who we have to send back to the White House.
